A Day in the Life of a Stylist

People often see the final images — polished campaigns, red carpet looks, glossy magazine spreads — but what they don’t see is the chaos, coffee, and countless little decisions that happen behind the scenes. So, here’s a glimpse into what a day in my life as a stylist actually looks like.
It usually begins early, with moodboards, reference pictures, and a running checklist of things that need to be packed. Clothes, accessories, safety pins (never enough of them), tape, scissors, and sometimes even random items you wouldn’t expect to use but somehow end up saving the day. A stylist’s kit is less about neatness and more about being prepared for anything.
Once I reach set, the pace shifts into high gear. Fittings start, adjustments happen on the spot, and clothes that looked perfect on the hanger may need reworking when worn. That’s where quick thinking comes in — maybe a last-minute change of shoes, maybe re-draping a saree, maybe swapping an accessory to balance the look better under studio lights.
Between coordinating with the production team, models or celebrities, and hair and makeup artists, there’s barely a moment to sit still. Styling is about teamwork as much as it is about fashion. Every department has to align, and it’s my job to make sure the looks tie it all together.
And then, just like that, the camera rolls. The adrenaline peaks, the chaos slowly settles, and suddenly all the little details — the pin you fixed, the crease you ironed out, the necklace you swapped — make sense on screen.
By the end of the day, when the final shots are reviewed, it’s always worth it. Styling isn’t as glamorous as it looks, but that’s exactly what I love about it. It’s problem-solving, creativity, and collaboration all rolled into one. And every project brings a new challenge, a new story, and a new reminder of why I chose this path.
